Flu Prevention One
Drink water! It may sound simple, and it is! Water keeps the mucus membranes of the nose, mouth, and lung healthy. Healthy mucus membranes are better able to ward off viruses and bacteria. Additionally, when you do get a cold or flu, you need even more water in these areas to flush out the germs.
That’s right–your runny nose actually serves a purpose: to get the germs out! So, you can imagine what I think about decongestants. Just watch out– if you can’t get the bugs out through your nose, how do they get out? They end up hanging around longer!
Additionally, when you’re sick you lose fluid through fever, and also through breathing out your mouth if the nose is stuffed. So keep hydrated to prevent, and manage, a flu or cold.
